Tourist Attractions in Marari Beach

Marari Beach is located in Kerala, a short distance from Alleppey and 60 kilometers (37 miles) from Cochin. Marari isn't a tourist beach but rather a peaceful place to relax and unwind. Those who visit Marari look forward to the slow pace of life, and soaking up the serenity and tranquility on the deserted sandy beaches. A number of interesting day trips are possible around the area. These include the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, traditional coir-making units, and the Kerala backwater canals. Mararikulam Shiva Temple

The shrine of Lord Shiva and Sree Parvathy, is exceptional in its architectural magnificence. The Cherthala Karthiyani Temple is an ancient temple with Devi Karthiyayini as the presiding deity. Kanichukulangara is famous for the shrine of goddess Bhagavathy.

Kokkamangalam Apostle St. Thomas Pilgrim Centre

This is a shrine which according to the legends build by the Christian community formed by St. Thomas. This shrine is one of the major pilgrim centers in Kerala.

Thumpolly beach

Is a natural habitat for many rare birds, this is one of the beautiful beaches in Kerala. Another attraction is St. Thomas Church dedicated to Blessed Virgin Mary.


Thiruvizha, about 5 km south-west of Cherthala is famous for the Shiva temple that attracts large number of devotees. It is believed that the divine prasadam given from the temple is supposed to possess medicinal and curative effects.


Aroor has an industrial park renowned for sea food exports. The major landmarks include St. Augustine's Church, Kartyayani Devi Temple and Pavumpayil Sreekrishna Swamy Temple.


Arthunkal is an important pilgrim centre in Cherthala. St .Andrew's Church, popularly known as 'Arthunkal Church', is located about 8 km south–west of Cherthala town facing a beautiful shoreline.


The main attractions at Poochakkal include Nagari Sree Dharmasastha Temple, Sreekandeswaram Mahadevar Temple, Elikkattu Sreedharmasastha Temple, Thevarvattom Masjid and Manappuram St.Theresas church.


Pallippuram is famous for Thiruayranikkulam Kalathil temple,Kadavil Bhagavathi temple, and St.Mary's Church.


Velorvattom near Cherthala is known for 'Velorvattom Mahadeva temple' dedicated to Lord Shiva.


This serene village is located near Cherthala. Trichattukulam Mahadevar temple, Nalpathenneeswaram temple and Odampally temple are the major attractions in Panavally.


You can see numerous small scale units of coir products functioning in this village.

St. Francis Church

This is the oldest European Church in India which was built out of wood in 1530. The wood based architecture of this Church enthrals tourists during their visit to this historical monument.

The Dutch palace

This is a beautiful palace situated at Mattancherry. The palace was built by the Portuguese in 1555 and was gifted to the ruler of Cochin Vira Kerala Varma. This palace is famous for the beautiful decorations, wooden ceilings and preserved artefacts of yesteryears. The mural paintings done on the wall of the palace is the most striking attraction. These paintings depict the scenes from the Hindu epic Ramayana.

Chinese Fishing Net

This fishing net is a popular tourist attraction of this place because of its photogenic look. It was introduced by the Chinese explorer Zheng He in the year 1350.
